Is this same as Columbia's Degree Dull?

I am starting to run out of my last bottle of Dull. Really like it. I want to make sure if this stuff is the same or should I look for something new.

No, not as far as I know.

Degree Dull is simply an abrasive that finishes a ball to some level of grit, as sepecified on the bottle.

Clean and Dull is strictly a cleaner. Its name is a misnomer, as it does not dull anything. It is a super deep cleaner for any type of ball. It will actually remove some of the oil in the highest level of the covertock. It does not change the the shine or grit level of the surface. It is a clear gel with a blue/green tint and has no abrasives in it.

C&D is possibly THE best ball cleaner on the market and maybe ever produced. Use it on your balls maybe once every 3 or 4 outings UNLESS you bowl on true heavu oil and your ball is 600 or grit or somehting very rough that sucks up oil voraciously.

Here is what my bottle of Dull has on it.

ITEM NO. R97-99-16

DULL

DEGREE BALL CLEANER

Cleaner/Restorer for Dull Urethane and Reactive Resin Bowling Balls.

* Safely daraws oil out of the ball

* Removes dirt, grime and belt marks

* Great on oily lanes to keep consistent reaction.

* Restores dullnes and tackiness in reactive resin bowling balls.

* Biodegradable

Acceptable for use during ABC/WIBC sanction  events

I see nothing about grit. What I remember was the first bottles of this stuff I had the Cleaner smelled terrible. That last bottle I had they seemed to fix the odor. It looks like it might be the same stuff.

Sounds like the same thing just the tint has been changed.

Just wonder if you can get it in quarts?

Key phrase: "Restores Dullness".

How can  you do that without abrasives?

If a ball is dull,

you bowl 12 games with it,

now its dirty (oil, grime, belt marks) - no longer dull.

If you clean it....

it restores its dullness.

I have used this cleaner on polished balls and it does not make them dull.

Fine. I give up. You caught me. Degree Dull is exactly the same as Clean and Dull.

Mike,

Not sure if its exactly the same thing but its probably close.  Ebonite makes the line of Powerhouse cleaners and abrasives.  In fact Powerhouse used to make (and they still might make) a sort of a liquid sand which I used to use on the particle balls to dull them and clean them.  That stuff definitely had gritty abrasives in it and it was almost like toothpaste with little stones in it.  Now that Ebonite bought Columbia they may have tweaked the old Columbia cleaner and put the Powerhouse name on it and took the smell out of it.  Might have taken the effectiveness out of it also who knows.  I know the stuff you mention was almost like a syrupy liquid and it was slightly orange in color.  This stuff here is probably a similar thing but with the Ebonite Powerhouse name on it now rather than the Columbia name.  I used that Dull liquid too and I don't recall any grit material suspended in the liquid.

GetOffMee10pin,

I was hoping for that answer. This cleaner is by far the best I have come across and I am glad that Ebonite kept it (They would be crazy if they would have got rid of it).

Thanks for the info Mark.

I am going to get a small bottle and try it out.
