For the last couple of weeks now, I feel like I am bending over too far at the foul line. This has lead to either a weak dump to the right or an overturned pulled shot. Obviously both results are bad. My backswing is fairly high so I realize that is a contributing factor, but I am looking for keys to focus on when I feel this happening. What are some tips to maintaining proper back tilt? I'm a firm believer that most problems are not caused at the foul line, they start in the first step or two. I'm just not sure what I'm doing to cause this much back bend.
I am fortunate to bowl in a league where Rick Steelsmith bowls when he is not touring. I try to watch him whenever possible because I dream to pattern my game after his. Last night, he was stroking it very well and now that I'm not so distracted with my own game, it hits me that his head and upper body remain very calm and steady throughout his approach.
