TOP SEEDS
« on: December 17, 2006, 04:39:42 AM »
What is wrong with the TOP SEEDS not being able to close out a tournament? TO be the top seed they bowled better then anyone during the week. But is sitting out back for them causing them problems? They have roughly 1-1/2 hours to sit and think about what they want to do. While the other guys are bowling, staying warm. I know they can come out and practice, but that is not the same as bowling under the lights.

Just wondering what all of you thought about this...

STRIKE ZONE & PYRO. STAND 22 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND CRUSH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!

It's the break down of the lane condition more than anything else.  Shafer made the right move but his carry suffered.  Duke played them the best and won.

LOL... funk...

Also, what happened between Schafer and Duke to cause the problem between them. Another thing is that Schaffer needs to watch what he says on TV. After one of his shots, he said JESUS. One of these days he is going to really put his foot in his mouth and be fined or have to miss some tournaments.

There was an incident last season between the two. Can't remember all the details, but I believe there were accusations of somebody getting coaching while bowling against Shafer. Can't remember exactly. All I remember is that Ryan lost his cool, and let go with some pretty explicit language in front of the fans. He may have been fined but not sure. I am sure there are some here who know more about it. Somebody, please clarify my memories of it.

I think it was the Bowlersparadise.com Classic last year.  In the round of 8, Shafer beat Duke 4-3, but the crowd was very clearly on Duke's side.  So much so that they were actually heckling Shafer, booing him, trash talking him.  I very much doubt Duke encouraged that kind of behaviour, and at the end, Shafer let the crowd have it.  It's very bad sportsmanship on the parts of the fans.  I can understand rooting for one guy, but actually giving the other guy heck is wrong.

I think bowling Duke has just left a bad taste in Shafer's mouth.  Duke's such a fan fave while Shafer seems very cold and off-putting (from TV observation).  I thought his little jumping fit when he won a few years ago was kinda corny, and in spite of how well he can bowl, I've never been a big fan.

I think that Shafer might be personified best in the old quote--------

Shafer did yell some obscenities at the crowd too in that match I believe was the report from brunswickinsiders.com last season.
