Anybody really bring bowling equipment to social function with people that cant bowl.. You know events just for fun or hanging out with old class mates... No trophies involved or anything.. Just having fun...

My wife's work at that time had their Christmas party at a bowling center. I walked in with my 3 ball bag and shot 200+ every game while everyone else was in house shoes using house balls struggling to break 120.

Guilty!!!!

Yes I do.

My wifes former employer would have a yearly get together at one of those Lucky Strikes, and yes I would walk in with my 4 bagger.

Main reason is I will not wear those house bowling shoes, don't want to break my neck.

I'd probably throw a double tote over my shoulder. My shoes, one reactive, one spare ball. Close enough. I am not interested in the house shoes, either...

I know you aren't suppose to answer a question with a question, but here goes. The same situation except on a golf course: would you rent clubs and play in running shoes if you had your own? Not a chance. If you have put the time and money into equipment, why not use it. For bowling in a shop function I would reduce how many balls I take, but definitely my bowling shoes would be in the bag...NO house shoes.

Believe me - I will have my shoes but not all those balls...

Nobody wants to be that dude if you know what I mean...

This is just social event and just mostly laughs...

Also just in case they start gambling my real stuff will be in the car... :-)

I was in Hawaii visiting our daughter a few years ago. One night she suggested that we all go bowling at the local house in Kona. I obviously didn't have any of my stuff, so I got the rental shoes that felt like sandpaper on the bottom, and used a house ball that had craters for finger/thumb holes. I had fun that night, but ended up straining tendons in my hand that took almost 6 months to heal.

I'll never bowl with rental stuff again. I don't care how social the occasion or what other people might think.

I am with Steven. I am not going to risk injury just for a social event. I will bring my own equipment.

I may not being my 6 ball bag, but I am not going to use rental shoes and a house ball.

Same here. Might look like overkill or like posing, but I won't risk health neither through house ball wrecks nor through (*yuck*) rental shoes. I might just bring the spare ball and shoes,

Would you believe I got called out this weekend..

My class was talking about my bowling and this dude I really dont know said I can beat him....

I was trying to just enjoy myself and have some dranks and this happens... WTH...

This dude thought he could take advantage of me because of my 6 to 7 drinks...

Had to get my balls out the car and make quick work of this dude and now another dude from that some spot wants to bet 1k that he can beat me .. My classmates was doing all the talking again on this same matter and now i might be bowling again ...

Moral to this true story - Always bring your balls with yea...

Here's the other side to this issue: Several years ago, they organized a "team building" event for my work group. They all knew that I was an accomplished bowler, and probably knew damn well that I would be bringing my equipment. You should have seen the discussion/arguments/covert operations to make sure that I was bowling on THEIR TEAM...
