After going through USBC rules on Pre/Post Bowling. Two things I see missing with leagues is they do not have a committee for Pre/Post Bowling and, they do not follow the procedure. If you read through the rules a committee gets a request, and then grants the pre/post bowl to happen.

What I see with most leagues are members taking liberties with this rule. They have adopted this idea that they can show up any night of the week to pre/post bowl.

What a mess.

If they truly followed the rule it would make things for the league officers, the league, and especially the proprietor much easier. It amazes me today with all the ways we can communicate (phones, text messaging, emails, internet-facebook) that making a request to pre/post bowl is so hard for some to do.

One thing needed is for the players or at the least the team captains, to read the rules  before there's a problem.

The majority of bowlers never look at the rulebook (or the league rules for that matter) until something happens they don't like.

Then something happens and you hear, "Who's got a copy of the rules", "When did that become a rule", "I didn't know that was a rule" etc. etc.

This is not new either, they use to give every player a copy of the league rules and the Rulebook on the first night.

Then after everyone left you looked on the tables, most of the books were still there along with the league rules.

Totally agree. Also to add everyone in the league should have the idea of "Let's get it right and play by the rules".  Don't take it personal.
