Here's my six-ball bag arsenal and it is pretty complete:
Benchmark: Hammer The Sauce, 1000 grit abralon, pin 5-1/2" from PAP above fingers. This is the strongest of the even rolling balls I have. I use this to play straight up the boards on medium-heavy oil.
Brunswick Siege, 1000 grit, pin 6" from PAP above fingers. Strong, dull, and angular. I will use this to play deep in heavy oil/carrydown.
Track Rising, 1000 grit, pin 5-1/2" from PAP below fingers. Straightest dull ball I own. Doesn't over-react when lanes dry up, yet still bites enough through carrydown. I go to this after the Sauce is too much.
Storm Virtual Energy, box (shiny), pin 5-1/2" from PAP over fingers. Shiny and strong. This ball is clean through the heads, but still recovers when leaked outside. When down the boards doesn't work: I move left, slow down, and crank it with this.
Columbia Action, highly polished, pin 5-1/2" from PAP below fingers. Straightest ball I have. If play isn't sanctioned, I will hit the last few flares with abralon and the carry for such a weak ball can not be beat. Most balls that I have drilled especially for dry lanes have a tendency to boomerang off the dry anyways. This ball is even no matter what.
Target Zone, spare ball
One specialty ball I rotate in:
Morich N'Sane LevRG, polished, pin 6" from PAP above fingers. This ball is particle pearl. IMO this is the absolute best approach for extreme wet-dry. It holds it own in oil, yet is easy off the dry. Get in deep and let the ball do the work.
If I had to have a minimum arsenal, I would go with 2 dull (one angular, one even) and 2 shiny (again one angular, one even).
