POY
« on: August 27, 2008, 12:01:18 PM »
Who do you think will win Player of the year this year?
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Big Nasty makes alot of shows think about the attention he will have from the RG group plus he will have a Cell Pearl to use.  Rhino should have a good year but I think it will be toned down a little diffinately not a sophmore slump.  I also would say a healthy Sean Rash has alot to make up for after in his mind disapointing last year.

I gotta go Duke. If he stays healthy he will be the man to beat.

Now that he is with Roto Grip, I can see him breaking through for POY. He is the sole PBA National staff with RG so they can effectively concentrate on him to match up equipment and drillings for his style.

Actually Brian Kretzer is still exempt and is also on their national staff. If Brian LeClair gets the nod to go out, he is also on staff. LeClair is second down the list from trials and rumor is that the guy in front of him, Ronnie Russell, may have shoulder problems and possibly surgery to correct.

Sorry to hijack, but did not want incorrect info being posted.

the pba won't have to worry about naming brian kretzer as pba player of the year for 2008-2009. anyway, there are several names that i anticipate would be on the list for prospective player of the year:

walter ray williams, jr.
norm duke
chris barnes
rhino page
wes mallot
tommy jones

I heard the rumor is Big Nasty is having shoulder problems and possibly surgery meaning a deferment. Making Ronnie Russell get the spot from the points list last year.. Like I said a rumor I heard

I know Rhino had a great season last year (historically great, one could even argue), and I know he's a hell of a bowler, but I just don't see him doing anything spectacular this year. There's a lot of Rhino Page man-love going around since last season, but I'm not on board, I just think he's gonna have an average season, maybe a couple shows, but that's about it.

For POY, I'm gonna give a nod to another lefty, PB3. Dude's still got skills, hopefully his win in Spartanburg (against Rhino, no less) and his RTR win will give him some confidence this year. I hope it happens, and if it does, couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

I agree with Greg Hoppe with his answer with a other one add to that list and that is Pete Weber.
