Decent average?
« on: April 08, 2005, 04:31:06 AM »
For a beginner, what would you say is a decent average? I just got a scout (first ball I have that hooks) and threw 3 games yesterday just over 150 each. I felt pretty good about it but still want to get a lot better. For a starting place, is this decent or should I not share my score with anyone until it gets about 30 pins better?

depends on your definition of beginner, but for someone just picking up the game, thats a decent series.

See people a beginner who knows his place, LOL! I'm just kidding man. 150 is great for a beginner and it is great that you want to get better. Keep up the go work.

I realized that I am a bum! The more I learn the worse I bowl. The faster my feet the more I strike. Why?? I can't tell you why cause I don't know myself. I have learned that you perfect what you do best and be good at what you do. Loft the ball, fast feet, whatever, just enjoy the game and don't complain when you lose. Learn from it and move on.
"I live to bowl but great bowlers bowl to live."-my philosophy.

I have left a pocket 3-9 with a 16lb bowling ball. How'd I do it?????? UHHHHH IOONO Practice James has yet to step up to tourney James.

I have bowled recreationally (One game every two months or so) since high school- about 8 years or so. It's just kinda messing around, house balls, rental shoes. I recently bought all my own stuff and decided it was time to get a ball that could hook some (but was not ready to shell out 150 bucks for a ball). So since I got this ball last week, I have bowled 6 games. So that's what I mean when I say beginner.

I would wait till you get in a league and bowl at least 60 games and then compare your average. The one thing you will want to do is NOT throw the ball fast and hard. Just learn to roll the bowl and watch other bowlers that seem to bowl well.

To compare, my first year back in 73-74 was 156. Then the next year was 164. Now after my third year back after being off for 12 years my high was 218.

Good luck and don't give up.
