Practicing with the opposite hand.
« on: June 01, 2004, 10:05:13 PM »
So last night me and a few friends were practicing and had a deal where we could bowl as much as we wanted from 9-1.  So at about 12, we started getting tired and decided to have a left-handed bowling competition (we're all righties.)  I was really only concerned with getting to the line somehow, not really concerned with my steps or push away, and most of my focus was on the release.  I really felt like I had better timing at the line left handed, and had a really good feel of my release, which I don't normally.  Right handed, I find it hard to feel my release from beginning to end, because it happens so fast and maybe because I'm thinking about too much other stuff.

So I was wondering if anyone purposely practices bowling with the opposite hand and if so, what exactly do you try to get out of the practice?  Are you working on timing, your release, anything else?

Kind of a weird question, but I was surprised that I now feel like I have stuff to try right handed, because of how I felt bowling left handed.

I practice with the other hand when I want to screw up the bowling on the side I bowl with in competition!

I never do it!  But when I do!

I roll a game with my left hand every now and then. Basically because it's fun, but I do have a more serious excuse. I once converted the 2-8-10 with my left hand - in practice. I haven't yet had the presence of mind to try it in competition. But maybe someday...
