Unfortunately I have had to pre bowl approx 2/3 of the year so far and it looks like I will have to continue this trend for the rest of the year due to work.
My problem so far is the lanes have been torched. Ball hooks at the arrows and then slides all the way to the pins. This has been really killing my average (down 10 pins from last year).
My question, should I start requesting the same lane conditions as the league bowlers or suck it up and fight through the season and reap the benefits next year with increased handicap? I do like tougher conditions and for me this is tougher than all of the PBA patterns and I feel like it could be making me better in the long run.
Any advice is appreciated.

You can request the same conditions but the Center has no obligation to honor your request. I would suggest changing when your prebowling.

Pre bowling is a gift, not a requirement. And the fact that a league actually lets you do so 2/3rds of the year is miraculous. I know of no league in our area that would allow this. YOu'd have to find another league that better suits your work schedule.
Since its a gift and a big one at that in your case, I don't see as you have any room for complaint about lane conditions. You should just be glad to be still involved in the league, IMO. By the way, does the league make sure they have a league official witness your pre bowling? If they don't they should.

When I pre bowl I am right in front of the desk and the secretary for that league works the desk.
When I first found out I was going on this shift that would require me to pre bowl so much I wanted to quit! But the league secretary said she would rather have me pre bowl all the time and not quit the league.

Good, but you still have no room to complain about lane conditions. Pre bowling, even if the secretary still wants your weekly money in her pocket, is still a gift.

I don't know where you're bowling at, but everywhere I've ever heard of, as long as you pay your dues every week, you can prebowl 100% of the time if you'd like.

Not in my area. In fact my leagues require a league officer to witness the pre bowling. If you are going to do this every week, its a big hassle on the league. In the case of skbowl800, his secretary happens to work at the bowl, so its not an imposition on her. Otherwise it is an imposition.
