Prebowling meal
« on: March 14, 2009, 09:05:49 AM »
I have to bowl D/S at 7am on Friday (I really wish I knew who picked that squad).  Any advice on a good meal, most likely from the buffet, to keep the energy level up?  I know to stay away from the greasy foods like bacon (mmmm, bacon) and sausage.  Any other ideas?

Scratch the buffet idea, I just checked the website and the buffet at Excalibur doesn't even open till 7am

Honestly, those 5 hour energy drinks do wonders for me. It's worth a shot.

I am thinking about trying those.  But I know I can't be hungry while I bowl or I won't be able to concentrate

So you're looking for something filling on top of energy? Hm.. Granola bars have always been a favorite of mine. Especially since you can bring them with you, they're quick, and they (for the most part) take the hunger away.

Try the 5 hour energy in advance to see how you like it(by that i mean take it like a shot then see if it works for you) and eat something light. It may make you jittery and not be a good idea. Maybe stick with a little caffeine and some good breakfast.

Maybe cereal and toast and have something to snack on while bowling like an energy bar(eh) or your favorite candy bar or granola bar. That way your prepared when the cereal starts to ware off.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

low glycemic complex carbs- oatmeal with some peanut butter, or oatmeal squares cereal, peanut butter and honey on whole wheat, apples, bananas, just stay away from pop tarts and soda, you will be tanked by the 2nd game.
lets face it... this isnt deadlifting or picking up women.. its BOWLING!!!! Stop acting tough when you roll 4 strikes in a row!!!

Get up early, stop and eat breakfast.  Plenty of places are open in Vegas.

agree.

Seems that you are over thinking here on what to eat.

Have you tried Clif Bars before?  I like them, and they make a great snack to help you make it until you can get a full meal.  Lots of different flavors, and they taste pretty good.

If I had to bowl at 7 am I would wait till about 9 pm, then eat a fairly large supper.  Next morning a couple pieces of toast and some coffee, then go bowl.  --  JohnP

Probably don't eat much before bowling.  For upset stomach reasons.  A good glass of orange juice followed with a glass of tomato juice.  Reason being orange juice has sugar to keep you going and tomato juice is a thicker substance that will have your stomach feeling full but not quezy or anything of the sorts.  Bowling early in my city tourneys is how why I started using those two liquids.
