A.B.C tournament rule
« on: November 20, 2008, 01:23:35 PM »
my league is making a tournament, and they quoted "Balls found not within A.B.C./W.I.B.C. specification rule will result in disqualification"

now, i have a Roto Grip X-Out Odyssey that has a USBC stamp on it, any idea if its legal under A.B.C?

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Find out from the tourney director, cuz that would outlaw any equipment made after the merger.

X out from Storm/Roto are usually cosmetic or longer/shorter pins. Still USBC approved but still has to pass drilling specs!!

This rule has been around forever.  Your ball must be on the approved list and it must be static legal.  This hold ture for all USBC certified leagues and tournaments.  That is all there is to it.

I would double-check like tenpin said.  Could be the intent is to make you use older equipment.

If that's not the deliberate intent of the rule, then they simply need to update their language to reflect the fact that the ABC and WIBC merged, what, two years ago?

Yes it is...  The Epic odyssey is on the approved list, x-out or not doesnt matter.

Bottom Line:
Since there is no longer any such entity as the "ABC" or the "WIBC", that rule is technically null and void.

Is this a "repeat" tournament, annual or other?  If so, they probably just copy the rules and entry blank from the previous tournament and just change the date.  If so, this one hasn't been changed in the last several years.  --  JohnP
