PRO IMAGE BOWLING / AL JONES / KEN YOKOBOSKY
« on: October 09, 2013, 07:29:29 PM »
I want to share with everyone a VERY positive experience. I went to the Pro Image Bowling Pro Shop in Elmwood Park, NJ earlier today because I was seeking some instruction and also because I was considering a new ball. Ken Yokobosky runs the pro shop, but he was not there. So Ken's partner, Al Jones, spoke with me and asked me to throw a few frames at Parkway Lanes.

Al immediately spotted a problem with my grip. After I inserted the thumb, I backed the thumb out about half-way. The backing out caused me to squeeze the thumb on the backswing. Al said that I would not have a consistent release, so he changed the angle of the thumb hole and added a thumb insert (a slug?). I bowled several more frames and felt really good about the change. The thumb fit snugly in hole without pressure.

The change in pitch seems to have lowered my track which had been very high and frequently nicked the thumb hole.

While I was there, I purchased a Hammer Nail Titanium which Al drilled for me in the same manner that he modified the grip on my other ball. I am really looking forward to working with the Nail Titanium.

I had seen Ken's name on several threads on BallReviews because he is a very good instructor---the reason that I went to his pro shop. Al Jones is a fine instructor, too. They run another pro shop in Rockaway, NJ (Morris County). For all the posters on BallReviews who are within reasonable driving distance of Elmwood Park or Rockaway, NJ, I highly recommend Pro Image Bowling Pro Shops. You cannot go wrong.
