Pro shop guys, good grease pencils?
« on: September 10, 2014, 10:22:03 AM »
My last order of grease pencils came in last week, and they're different from what I normally get.  Our distributor had to change what they usually stocked because these new ones are apparently the only brand they can get anymore, and these are an absolute abomination.  They fly right through the sharpener, the "lead" breaks and splinters and snaps with extremely minimal pressure, they're hard to mark with, and once you DO get the ball marked, you've gotta scrub pretty hard even using ball cleaner and a microfiber towel to get it off.  These things SUCK.  Got any good recommendations?
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I use the white pencils, link below.  They are a lot less messy than the yellow ones and they clean off with water instead of alcohol or ball cleaner, although those work also.  The link I gave you is for a gross of them but you can probably find smaller quantities other places.  You do have to be careful when sharpening them, though, and if you ever drop one on the  floor you might as well throw it away.  --  JohnP

If I scribed, people would legitimately get pissed at "damage" being done to their ball haha . .

I'll give those a look.  We had some great yellow ones that were like colored pencils, but apparently our distributor can't get them anymore.

Go to the craft store and buy individual colored pencils.  They will cost twice as much but last twice as long.

Sharpie China Markers work great.  You can buy them at any office store.

I really don't care how much they cost, I just want good quality stuff.  Thanks, got some options now.

Another vote for scribing...and if someone bitches and moans, then ask if they want maximum accuracy and a few 'scratches' or would they rather their driller miss by a fraction of an inch but give them a 'pretty' ball.
