Low RG balls?
« on: January 23, 2011, 11:40:17 PM »
Are low RG balls better than medium-high RG balls for players with a low rev rate or is it more a question of on which conditions you're playing?

All answers appreciated...

It would depend on conditions and ball speed. Usually a low RG would be better for higher ball speeds, getting started earlier. With right surface and layout, a higher RG ball can be more angular, and may help getting the proper roll thru the rack.

Hey there well this is what I throw a Storm Virtual Gravity 2.48 RG 15# and a strom fast 2.55 rg 15#. I have both with same layout which is pin under ring finger at around 4 1/2 from PAP. My VG is for heavy or medium oil. I usually shoot kind of higher speed at around 18 or 19 sometimes now I have slowed it down to about 17-18 on very heavy oil around 16.5. Anyways I love the reaction I get from both balls and I have also heard that a low rg ball will roll earlier and it is for fast speeds and/or low revs only problem you may have is if the ball is too agressive it might roll out and have a very soft hit at pins. That is why I have my Storm Fast same layout but different surface obviously a pearl cover would help retain energy longer so it doesn't want to roll right away and obviously the core/coverstock are weaker than my VG. In a nutshell I use low RG bowling balls to open up on the fresh until 2 maybe 3rd game reason is I am a down and in bowler and my area where I bowl on the lane usually it's just me as everybody  tends to play in.  No low rg balls aren't necessarily better than medium rg depending on condition but if you have a low rev rate i would get one low rg ball and one medium or high for drier lanes. As i said I use my VG for heavy/medium oil then switch to Storm Fast once they are drier as it retains energy longer and I can crank up the speed and move in hope this helps any questions let me know glad to help
