Ok since it is now summer, most leagues are not sanctioned. Thursday night I was bowling in our summer league and I shot 300. Its my 2nd one this year/career. Anyways, the others in the league who watched the 300 congratulated me and someone then asked me if I was going to get a ring for it. I told them that since it was not sanctioned no. I really didnt even think it was that big of a deal, since I had shot my first one in January, which was my big accomplishment, and this is a non-sanctioned, summer fun league. The question I have is would anybody be upset if they shot a non-sanctioned 300 and not get an award, or still be happy to say he/she shot 300 and accomplished a personal goal? The shot seems to also be a little easier than during the fall (avg. 240 after 5 weeks), but corner pins dont carry as well on flush hits here.

I'd probably be a bit upset if it was my first (and possibly only) 300.  Since you've already achieved that goal, I'd say it's NBD.  Sanctioned or not, if anyone asks how many 300's you've thrown, you'll say 2.  It's not like it was a practice game.

I really don't understand the comments about bowling in non-sanctioned leagues in the summer.  "What's the point?"??  What are you talking about?  You mean to tell me that you bowl for patches and rings?  If the ABC were to fold, you would quit league bowling???

My summer league is unsanctioned.  We get quite a few people who want to bowl on a 13 week summer league, but don't want to commit to a 33 or 36 week winter league.  They have no interest in forking over 16 bucks to sanction their 140 scores.
