problems pulling the ball
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:52:50 PM »
I have some issues with some new bowling balls that i recently bought. I inserted  IT thumb slugs in them and for some odd reason i pull the ball everytime i throw them. When i throw my old balls without the IT in them I dont pull them. Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything like this before or has ideas of what i should try. Thanks for your help.

I presume you have the slugs drilled the same as the other ball (s) ie span pitches etc.

If so, it could be a slight differance in the bevel which causes hang up.

Or the new slugs are rougher inside this a common cause when people have been using a ball for a long time the inside of the slug becomes polished with the thumb exiting, new slug may need working on or in.

Or worstly the new insert is moving on release...!!!!!!!

Did you use vinyl or urethane slugs before the IT ?  If vinyl, you might be grabbing the ball since the IT use urethane slugs and they are a bit slicker.  Otherwise, I would have the IT slugs checked to insure they are not too tight.  Also, recheck your thumb pitches with the IT inserted to insure you drilling did not make a mistake when installing the IT.  The pitch should be drilled into the ball and the IT should be zero pitch.

Either way, go back to your pro shop and have everything checked out.

Mikes, generally when you pull the ball, you are unsure of what the ball or you will do.  Just work on your stance and the thought of the path of the ball.
