God, this was a beautiful thing to watch. Like poetry in commotion.
I bowl my Sport League on Wednesdays. There is a league that finishes up just before we start where bowl some of the house heros, one of which carries a 230 something average. Well, the lane man usually puts the shot out on an extra pair in case we have a breakdown. Somehow, these guys manage to talk the manager into letting them use the breakdown pair while we are bowling.
So I'm bowling my game. Shoot 183 out of the gate after flagging a single pin in the 10th like a complete rookie. My game finished, I move my stuff to my next pair which is next to the breakdown pair. I stop for a few to watch the house hacks. Aw, it was beautiful. Split, open, split, split, open. 145 for the house hero who averages 230. The other guys are experiencing similar problems. Three games worth of problems. To the house hero's credit, he did manage to shoot 202 before slumping back down into sub-par numbers.
Now, normally I wouldn't care about all of this, but these are the guys who stick around every week and watch us shoot on this pattern week in and week out. Every week they sit back there and make commentary on how we are bowling and, to be sure, include their own self-worship by saying how they would do it differently and more successfully.
Finally, these guys know what real lane conditions are like. Maybe now they'll stop their comments and respect us for our ability to average 180 & 190.
