Balls come from the manufacturer in either a thick plastic bag (95%) or a cloth bag (some Dyno-Thane and all old Quantums). When you order a single ball, it comes in its own bowling ball box, which, in turn, in packed in a plain cardboard box whose dimensions are 9" x 9" x 9".

When I sell a ball, I always ship it this way (I may not always have the original inside box, but I always have another brand's bowling ball box.). You should alway spack the ball in something if you do not have the original bag; a old cotton undershirt or shirt without buttons is good, as well as an old towel. I always seal the outside box with clear, 2" wide, shipping tape. I tape both top and bottom with at least 4 pieces of tape to insure that the roughest handling will not break the box.
I always use either UPS

http://www.fedex.com/ratefinder/home?cc=US&language=enwhich, for the time being, is cheaper and faster. Both insure up to $100 for free and provide tracking numbers.
Always give the buyer the tracking number and the estimated date of delivery; these are easy to obtain, fromt he counter or the website.
