Hi guys/gals,
Thought this was a pretty cool topic to chime in on. I shot my first 300 last August (16 years to finally get it!). Although I didn't shoot it at home, it was at a house a few miles away from my house. I didn't receive the ring for a good 7 months, because of a goof up with the paperwork and I decided that I'd uprgrade it to gold since it was my first one. I received the ring and have worn it only once.
I shot a 299 in august of 2003 and have worn it a few times, the blue stone looks kinda cool. I'm pretty proud of my 800 ring that I earned last January and have only worn it 2-3 times from what I remember. They mostly sit in the china cabinet on display at home with family pictures and keepsakes.
What I'm most proud of is the 300 I just recently shot last week (2/24/05). On 2/14/05 my cousin Sharrie passed away from complications from cancer. She was only 24. The weird thing about this whole thing is, after my first 7 strikes, I started thinking of her. Each strike after the 7th, I would whisper to myself, "This one is for you Sharrie, 3 more to go...so on so on..." All of a sudden, the 300 didn't have anything to do with me anymore, it was about honoring my beloved fallen cousin. I never thought it would happen, but I was overcome with emotion and broke down after the last strike. I'm glad she came to visit, because that 300 was for her and when I get the chance to wear that ring, it will remind me of the short but sweet time she spent with us during our lifetime...
