PSO
« on: October 14, 2016, 10:36:15 AM »
Back in bowling after almost a year and a half off and I'm re-assessing everything, including my PSO.  He's quite reputable, but I want to make sure my experiences with him are at least somewhat typical in the bowling world.  He's very insightful and skilled, but after I get a ball drilled I often have mixed feelings about the experience.

Two questions: 1) When you drop off a ball to get drilled, on average how long does it take before it is ready for you?  Assuming nothing crazy happens like the drill press dies or something.
2) How often is it that you feel the PSO did something wrong?  Drilling related (messed up span or wrong layout, etc.) or customer service related.

So the next question would be...any suggestions who I should go see?

You make me feel even luckier than I already knew I was with my pro shop! If I know exactly what I want, he orders it in as soon as I hang-up the phone. If I call early enough in the day, he can have it the next day, even if I say I won't be in for a week or two. And he would drill it the next day. I can show up unexpectedly and pick something off the wall and he will drill it up then as soon as he finishes with the customers ahead of me. Everything he has ever drilled for me has felt perfect in my hand barring my hand growing and causing issues with my grip. I never question his choice in a layout. I just say what I want the ball to do and by God that is what I have when I leave.

With what you are saying you are going through, I would have been gone in a heartbeat. I don't put up with stuff like that

Is it just me or are all PSOs a little rude?

Is a little south Elk Grove or Stockton?

Jbird?  Milo?

xrayjay is in the Sacramento area, I believe Milo is around Stockton.  They should be able to help you out.  I've been gone for 5 years so I'm sure things have changed.

Sounds like you do a lot of the same things as I, just tying to learn and experiment. Unfortunately, that makes many PSO's adopt a superior attitude, which is never OK, and usually incorrect in the first place. Waiting weeks too? Sorry, he would have lost my business long before what you have put up with. That's what basically drove me online to Buddies, a decision I have NEVER regretted. Run, don't walk, away from this guy...

I live in Lodi.  I used to practice in Stockton and in Sacramento so I could see some different looks and I'm planning on doing that again.

I use Larry at West Lane Bowl and highly recommend him. Dave Bolles at Pacific Avenue Bowl is also excellent.  The guy at Manteca is a tool, so don't waste your time with him.

It's a bit of a drive to see DB at pacific Ave bowl. I recommended him to some sactown bowlers who never looked back. A local PSO just couldn't get their grips right.

Also, I heard He (DB) corrected an order and went out is his way to personally deliver an order himself to a customers home after hours.
