What has Happened?
« on: August 09, 2007, 02:34:33 AM »
What has happened with this site? When I first joined this site, you could ask questions and get reasonable responses. While no one fully agreed with eachother, the responses were informative.

But now it seems that nobody wants to actually answer a question about drilling or equipment. They would much rather just start to rip either the person who posted it or someone who answered.

There are a few people on here that I do not agree with or like for that matter, but I do not go and rip them or post something they said trying to either upset them or get under their skin. I choose to just ignore most of what they say, they might say something informative if they post enough.

It's not just here.  Pretty much every single forum I ever visit is getting more and more filled with trolls and bitter arguments over petty stuff constantly.  (well, except for the Fender Rhodes electric piano forum I frequent, that one stays pretty clean)

Some do not post replies out of fear of being bashed for their response.  I have talked with a few people on here who would add their opinion/advice but don't want to be attacked or called names because some one thinks they know more.  It is not the original poster doing the attacking/bashing.

As for drillings and equipment, I don't feel qualified to reply.

I guess, looking at your question, has me thinking, maybe it is because a lot of people on here don't know how to drill, so they just try and baffle you with BS.
Or, maybe it is the people that do answer the question asked, than get initaded with others just tyring to show that person up.

*****drools***** Fender Rhodes.. *****drools again***** I love that piano.. I remember back in school i used to always try to incorporate one in everything we played in music class.. Lol.. They hated me for that.. Lol.. I gotta find one now.. Have to own one.. I haven't played one in nearly 5 years..

Sorry for the hi-jack.. But yeah i've noticed the same thing.. Seems like a thread only reaches 5-7 post deep when someone needs to rip at someone.. I'll usually just ignore those posters..

(minor thread hi-jack, sorry guys)

I managed to stumble upon one for DIRT cheap in February 2006 -- I've got a buddy out in California who owns one as well and was talking to an employee at a music store about it, the employee mentioned he had one he wanted to sell for only like $200 because he just wanted to get rid of it.  I had that baby shipped all the way out to Kentucky because they're hard to come by around here for that price!!!  I've got a couple videos of me playing my Rhodes on Youtube -- check them out under my username there, djbelc01

If you are really interested in buying a Rhodes, keep an eye on the forums at fenderrhodes.com -- also, check both eBay and Craigslist regularly.  You can expect to pay anywhere from $400 to $1400 depending on the model, the year, and the condition of it.  And also, rhodespiano.com intends to be selling brand new Rhodes electric pianos for the first time in two decades very soon.  They will be, however, pretty pricey it sounds like (upwards of $2500 to $5000!).

For some reason, most of the forums I look at, there seems to be a lot of angry unhappy people. Information is hard to come by, but opinions abound.

Small people with small minds tend to make small comments.  Like the poster above said, information is hard to find, but lots of people have opinions.

In the absence of true knowledge, I assume those uninformed people let their opinions take over.

P.S. some people also take great pleasure in "poking" the bees nest, stirring things up as it were.  Those who do this just for fun are truly trolls of the first magnitude.

This thread,

Seems to offer further evidence of what appears to be an infection currently going through ballreviews. It is sad. Hopefully, this is just one phase of the cycle and we will soon return to normalcy with the coming new season.
