Title: Putting arsenal by strength and other things
Post by: djgook on August 01, 2017, 07:12:57 AM
Hello bowling family.
I am new at this, but I need help putting my arsenal by strength. My current weapons as follows: Hammer Scandal oob, Timeless 1000 grit and IQ Tour oob. Is how I just listed strong to light is that right? I ordered the Hammer Gold, where would this go. I am a two hander and I am not feeling the IQ tour should I change the surfaces and if so what works best. I do not have a thumb hole in any of my balls. IQ is drilled to go long and strong and the rest are aggressive drilled. Thank you for all your help in advance.

The BW Gold should fit in between the Scandal and Timeless.

What surface do you have the IQ Tour at, and what isn't it doing that you want it to do?

Impending Doom the IQ is oob. Don't want it to go as long as it does. that's why I ask what grit to take it to(other then that I like the ball)

Take it down to 2000 if it's not reading early enough. I agree with the placement of the Widow.

I have long disagreed with the idea of building an arsenal that way.  It isn't like golf clubs where you go long to short.  The idea if an arsenal is to have some different break points and shapes to give you carry options.  You don't go to a different ball to try to stay in a certain place on the lane.

You've contradicted your own argument.  "Different break points" is analogous to "long to short".

Avabob,

I had a guy on league suggest building my arsenal based upon standing in one place. That seemed odd to me. Doesn't seem very adaptable.

Why don't you like the idea?

Maybe I miss spoke.  My point is you don't try to have a bunch of balls that keep you from moving on the lane.  Instead you learn how to play every place from the gutter to 4th arrow, then you find equipment that gives you the best ball reaction from the different angles.  Bottom line you find the shot that matches your game, then find the ball that gives you the best reaction in the pocket.

Isn't that why ball companies, I'll use a company I like which is Visionary, why they  have ball lines such as the executioners/gladiators & Ogres that have differing covers with the same core for different amounts of oil so that when one ball you are using is too much ball, just ball down to the next one in line?

Balling down is one thing. Never moving your feet is a whole other thing.
