OK guys can anyone tell me what exactly putting a potato on your thumb actually does for it? I have been doing it for years and it makes my thumb feel better but i kinda wanna know why. thanks

i used potatos on my eyes a couple of times when i was a welder if i burned my eyes but never heard of this one.

I just carved out a potato and the fit on my thumb is better than any of my balls. I wonder if the pro shop can make a thumb mold of my potato?
