Question about buying new soles...
« on: June 04, 2010, 02:03:33 PM »
Are they really $12.99 PER sole? ( according to BB.com ) if so that to me is a ripoff.. also how long do your soles usually last? Or maybe  how long are they "supposed to last?

Last, which soles do you guys all use the most?

In one house with wood lanes  I use a 6, and on synthetics I use an 8

Sounds about right for a price.
Depends on how much you clean the soles off with a brush.

Im wearing etonics.. I linked the soles above.. and like I said I use the s6's for the wood approaches since they seem to be a little less tacky than the synthetics ( which i use the 8s for ) also both houses are humid as hell , so that im guessing will add to the tackiness

As for amount of bowling.. lol Its been alot. I got a $89 unlimited pass and go BOTH days they oil the lanes .. So ill probably bowl 10-15 games on monday and thursday  on fresh oil, then 4 games tuesdays for league

averaging , id say 25-30 games a week never more than 30 ( anymore ) some times ill do 6/6 and 4 for leagues , so thats 16.. all depends .

I need to pick up one of those brushes to.. didnt really know it helkps out the soles that much.. What does it do? just keep the fibers loose?

If you are bowling that much you should see a definite wear pattern on your soles.
Using a brush you can rough up the soles to freshen them up.

The more you switch from one sole to the other will wear out the velcro side of them also.
I usually go thru 3 to 4 different soles a year because I wear out the velcro side.
Mainly because i'm very particular about approaches.
That and I bowl in so many different houses around the state in various tournaments.

i bowl probably as much as you and usually have to buy a new set of sole and heel every year since i pretty much never change them. i use H1 and S2. to me its better than buying a 40-50 dollar pair of shoes every few years since SSTs will last 5+ years

I wish I could get SST's to last that long.
The longest i've had a pair last is 2 years.
You used to be able to replace you pushoff pad but Dexter stopped offering them a coulpe of years back.
So now I end up replacing a pair of shoes around every 18 months.

I've been lucky enough the past 5 years because i've literally walked into some great deals on my SST 5's.
Either trading used equipment or buying closeouts from pro shops.
