I also have 25-300 RPM and play rather slow, and for me getting "deeper" can have 2 reasons:
- either the lane just dries up in the head arae and I need fresh head oil to get the ball down the lane.
- the pattern (mostly THS and derivates with crowned patterns around here) just allows much room and recovery.
In the first case, I just follow the flow of lane transition and gradually move deeper. Most of the time I stick with the current ball at hand, I might change hand positions, though, to adjust length and sometimes overall hook.
In the second case, esp. when the lane is fresh, I like to use solid pieces, e. g. my Frankie May Gryphon (pin under ring, about 4.25x4.25, surface 1.500 grit wet sanded) or old Fuze Eliminator (4x3, surface 4.000 Abralon) that allow lots of recovery and react well to release changes. Both have high differentials, and a sheen surface is a good compromise for me and my style for sufficient length in the heads (I use both on medium to oily shots).
Lines with feet aroung 30th board and targets at 3rd arrow and deeper are possible without much effort, even though the lane must yield such a line and long ways, and basically I prefer a straighter path between 2nd and 3rd arrwo because the reaction at the break point will be easier to control and read.
