question about rev rates...
« on: April 09, 2009, 05:36:12 AM »
so im working with my coach the other day and we measure my pap to see if its changed any and it hasnt, so then he measured and said that i get 19-20 revs on the ball, at 17.5 to 18 mph ball speed. so my question is how do i convert that to rpms? last time i had it checked, another guy said i was about 450-475 rpms, but wasn't exactly sure. so do any of you guys know where i would fall based on the info im given? thanx, stopncrank

Let's say the numbers are 19.5 revolutions and 17.75 MPH.

Time To The Pins:

(60 feet to pins/5280 feet per mile)/(17.75 MPH/3600 seconds per minute) = 2.305 seconds

Revs Per Second:

19.5 revolutions/2.305 seconds = 8.46 RPS

Revs Per Minute:

8.46 RPS x 60 seconds/minute = 508 RPM

It's that easy. The official conversion would be 1.46667 x speed (in MPH) x number of revolutions.
