Question about someone smoking pot during league play?

So last night i was subbing on my girlfriends team for a teammate who is injured. Two of the guys we were bowling against went outside for a "cigarette break" between the second and third game. They came back absolutely reeking of pot smoke. When we questioned them about it they kinda gave us a "whats the big deal about smoking some weed" comments. What i'm wondering is there a USBC rule pertaining to this and can they get in trouble for it?

Considering pot smokers smell like crap after they smoke it,  nothing like having to put up with the smell from them for a game or so.

so whats the difference between bowling against a stoner or a drunk.  (i set this one up). but form real I've bowled against someone that had a hell of  a beer buzz going on . he was a real POS. i told him i didn't like the way your talking to me are  my teammates , asked me what i was going to do about it . told him i don't  beat up drunks  not another word came out of his mouth. i know there are stoners out there on league . there scores are HIGH.

Well, hmm, it kind of is against the law, so, yeah, technically they can get in trouble.

One thing is certain: they're not serious about their bowling, they are just there to occupy space and time.

I'm sure there's a "for-the-good-of-the-game" clause that covers this tangentially, but yeah, the law ought to be able to take care of this.

Along that same note (minor threadjack), I wonder if that same USBC rule covers someone who drinks so much during bowling that they become a real -- and I mean REAL -- problem?

The only time I've had experience with either, a guy got so drunk on our league he literally fell down on the approach a couple of times. He still didn't get kicked out, though, until his equally-drunk friend hit on the wife of one of our more violent redneck good-ol-boys and nearly touched off a small riot.

i got 2 teammates the smoke b4 and in between games...   LOL    you can smell that hydro in the pockets!!

No issue here, they are doing it outside.  Is it illegal, yes.  But so is drinking and driving.  Are you gonna police the parking lot for people who drive home after a few pitchers of beers??

Separate issue, but yes, I wish that happened more often. Drunk driving is nothing to downplay.

In general, some people are pretty serious about laws of society being followed. Get pot legalized and there's not a problem anymore. Until it's that way, however, people are going to be expected to abide by it.

From my personal perspective, as a teammate, I don't bowl with people who get f'ed up when they bowl, whether it's drugs, alcohol or whatever. I don't require them to carry a certain average but I do want them paying attention to what they're doing and trying. The guys who want to turn bowling into a bar with bowling balls have it wrong. One of my current teammates drinks while bowling, but stays sober and that's not a problem.

Law against speeding also but people ignore the mess out of that too. IMHO I would say to them "hey I smell the weed on ya, stay away from the cops that bowl here". He will be so paranoid to bowl good and you will win the games.
