I am/was going to be 6th..7th man on my scratch league this year.  I say 7th because I can only sub for the higher average guys(2).  I have emailed the captain of the team, just asking some questions like, did they change the cap?, I see you guys are doing good?, I noticed you have already used the 6th man.  But I have not gotten any replies from him and its been over 2 weeks.

I will be getting a chance to get a little OT at work which means I might be able to bowl full time.  Here's the tough part.  There is one team that has a vacancy and it looks like I will be able to fit under that cap and bowl full time. Problem is, this team has had several run-ins with other teams in that league. Two of the members can be arse holes. I'm not sure I would "fit in".  They don't seem like they are very competitive, but then again it could be because they don't have a full team or other issues. I really want to bowl full time if I can but not so sure I want to join a team that I might regret joining and have to stick it out for a whole season.
Another possibility is tell my old team captain that I can pay(i could only sub but not pay the $25) and possibly rotate with one of the bowlers.  I would only bowl 45-50 games.  
What would you do?

I would bowl with the people that make it most enjoyable. I would favor the team where I would rotate in/out with other teammates. I think that possiblity is best. Not every night are you going to be in the mood to bowl and compete and the same goes for the other teammates. (at least I feel this way at times)

Also, you are not committed night in, night out. Another reason to bowl as the 6th 7th man...what if someone gets hurt, schedule changes...so on.

To answer your question, bowl as the 7th man on the team.

Since you haven't gotten responses from the team captain, I would check with him to be sure they still want you as a sub.  If not you're free to bowl with any team that can use you.  --  JohnP

I'm going to go to the bowling center this Monday and chat with him.  I like renoatpikeville suggestion.  Not having to go every week will keep me interested and hopefully keep me from burning out on bowling by the end of the season.  Again it all depends on if they still want me to bowl as a 7th man.  I know one of the guys I would sub for doesn't really have his "heart" in it because he too is struggling financially, last I heard anyway.
