Question for bowlers using urethane on sport shots

How well have they worked on the shorter patterns?  With old school urethane I can play down and in on most house shots and that has worked well for me.  Down and in is about 7-8 straight or further in.  Anything outside of that the ball usually checks up.  I used my blue hammer on a burnt up nationals shot and the reaction was good.

On 95-99% of the short patterns I've seen (36' and under) I can throw my Urethane Avalanche up 1-4 and hit the pocket all day long. I might get some heat for this statement: Urethane is a must for all matched to rev dominant bowlers on short sport patterns. Nothing can duplicate the reaction of a good urethane ball from those extreme outside angles.

 

Now to directly answer your question, yes, mine has served be quite well and the instant I hear that they might be discontinued, I'll pick up an extra 2 or so. Would I suggest one for you? Yes I would! I'm 99% sure a urethane ball would work wonders for you. Post your release specs so I can add in that extra 1%

Thanks for the reply.  I think you can add me to the 1% because the blue hammer(original not the remake) is the first ball out of my bag.  It's matched up well.  Unfortunately, I like it better than my Natural and I am on the hunt for old hammer urethane balls.  I've heard great things about the B Avalanche and that will be an option if my quest for the old hammers proves fruitless.

I have used a Desperado from Seismic on the Team USA Short oil patterns with good success. Like Wolf said if you have a lot of hand and are going to try and bowl on these shorter patterns urethane is a must have. I have VERY weak drilled reactive and they do work on the shorter patterns.  I find using Urethane simplifies the pattern somewhat, fewer adjustment are involved, I believe that you will have a little more room for error with urethane, the pattern will not transition as fast or as harshly if urethane is used.

Thanks for the info.  I do like urethane for the reason you mention; there is more room for error than reactives on the shorter patterns.  I have an X-factor that has the MB drilled out and it still snaps off of the friction.  I have an immortal pearl that I haven't used much lately because I need the thumb fixed and on shorter patterns I think it could work on short patterns.
