My PAP.. have a question..
« on: August 05, 2007, 08:31:48 AM »
Hey everyone, my PAP is OVER 5 1/4 and DOWN 1/8.

Now i have a question. Is this bad? I know i'm slightly inverted, but is having an inverted PAP a bad thing?

Also, if i got my thumb pitches drilled to make my thumb exit QUICKER, would this change my PAP? My ball driller told me if I lose my inverted PAP, i'll gain a better hook/hit. So i'd like to learn how to change it.

Can anyone help? Any help at all will be appreciated. I'll answer any further questions if you need somethings answered. Thanks.

Your pap is hardly down enough to cause anything of concern, and even then you should only worry about that if you're getting the inversion by doing something bad at release.  Last time I was checked I was at 3/4 down, and I don't have any strange side effects related to that.  I did have earlier roll, but found out that was due to excessive gripping and hitting up on the ball.

Thanks for the response, Andy. I see what you mean by the foward roll. I've been trying to get more on the side of the ball, but it isn't really working. I think i also rip through the ball too much, but i've stopped that now.

I was just thinking that I would get a better reaction if I wasn't inverted. I remember when I wasn't inverted, and I loved my ball reaction. Now i'm not too happy with it. It's all right, but I think i can do better. Any other suggestions, guys?

Well, whatever problems you have aren't *because* of the inversion, it's probably just your release.  I too had the problem of being unable to get side roll.  Here's a comparison of my ball roll about a month ago (first two), and less than a week ago (second two).  Had some coaching, changed pitches and am still working on trying to grip it less, but it's made a definite difference.  The most telling thing are the 2nd and 4th shots, same ball, but in the 2nd it stays more in the oil but still rolls through the nose while the other gets more outside and strikes, in a house where getting the ball even close to the outside for me *always* meant a split.  Now I can play out there comfortably, even my revs having increased a bit.  It's mainly because I previously released well past the flat spot, and so I had to grip it to try and get any turn.
