What would u do if you owned a bowling Center

Well one of these days i will have my own bowling center.

But my Ideal center would have  about 60lanes, nice restaurant/bar, excellent proshop with someone in the house at all times to service someone.   I would want to have the best oiling machines like a Kegel or custodian.

as for the leagues i would want to have one nice Classic league that bowls on a variety of oil patterns. Probably holding this league on a Thursday, and then have the usual assortment of leagues through out the week.  

I would want to talk to ABC and see about having Nationals held at my bowling center within the yr of having it open'd and then see about having it held there every 5th yr.  

As for the shot that is put out, to hell with the cake shots.  
I would make the gutters max depth, and make the sides so they dont bounce off so much.    The shot would probably be like a 40ft light oil, pretty flat yet score-able,  something like first 15ft 20units of oil gutter to gutter, then 10units of oil to 40ft from 5-5, with the bare 3units on the last 3 boards.   And i would probably use Twister Pins

I would probably want synthetic lanes, with wood approaches.  

Now for prices for open bowling, i have always been a person for the bowlers, and feel everyones pain when it comes to paying outragous prices.

I would probably set a rate of 2$ per game at nite, and 1.50$ per game during the day.    and have special rates for league bowlers like 1$ all the time.  

I am sure the list can go on and on about things i would have in this place.

60 lanes. 24 walled to the max, 24 sport shot (or something tough),and 12 duck or candle pins. Something for everyone. Bar: NTN trivia, karaoke on saturdays, and beer specials every night. Pro shop: Manned by someone old school with a knowledge of the modern game. well stocked with internet compatible pricing (LOL). Diverse restaurant w/a different theme every night, i.e. Italian, Mexican etc. Pie in the sky I know, but I can dream, can't I??? Also....I would have a child care area to take care of the kids during bowling. On site from 6:00pm to 1:00am

After doing extensive research, I’ve had plans drawn up for a bowling alley.

I’e found the busiest nights are Cosmic Bowling.  Place is packed.  Problem is kids don’t have any money, no bar sales, no profit.

League nights place is packed but everyone leaves about 9:30 after league, place goes dead, closes around 10, no bar sales, no profit.

My solution, Adult Cosmic Bowling.  I got this idea when I visited Creekside lanes, Winston Salem, NC, home of the legendary Ron Clifton.

In Ron’s house the lanes are about 4 steps above the rest of the house, and instead of the lanes running continuously side by side, he has groups of lanes separated with islands that run down the side of the lanes.  Really makes for a beautiful house.

Now here’s what my partners came up with.

We install the lanes above ground in groups of 4.  Separate steps lead up to each pair of lanes.  The side lanes though will have walkways and seating the entire length of the lane.  We aren’t even going to put machines on them, just poles for the dancing girls.

No charge for bowling, everyone just pays a $20 cover charge.  We won’t have any complaints about lane conditions, place will be packed every night, no one will really care about averages, guys will be showing up even on the nights they aren’t scheduled to bowl.  No one will care if league runs till 2-3 AM.

House will be 40 lanes, 20 to a side.  10 lanes for bowling, 10 lanes for dancing.  

I’ve got Pchee2 lining up the Rent-a-chicks, Imabagger is putting up the capital.

Therealstevesmith is lining up Chippendale dancers for the other side of the house to accommodate the women.

Sure looks like win-win situation to me.

Actually sounds like a good idea! Once you get a good reputation, you can start raising that cover price too.

It would be a 10 lane house - Retro Bowl. Wood lanes (if I could find them). Flat light oil shot. No modern balls allowed. Nothing but 3-piece plastic or rubber. Maybe a league or two, but mostly open play and retro tournaments, and pot games. Maybe a small bar & grill combo with classic Alley food from the 50's & 60's. Burgers, Fries, Dogs, Soup & Salad, sandwiches. Pin boys would be nice, but of course no Insurance Company would allow that! It wouldn't make money, but what the hell - it's a Lotto dream anyway, so profit will not be a factor. Just the "love of game".

I would LIKE to run a big center, but in all reality EVERY larger alley I've been to SUCKED! They are never "about the people", its always about money! I would most likely have a 20 lane or so alley with a good pro shop, and I would carry everything, not just one brand so people could actually choose what they wanted instead of shoving stuff down their throat.

I think I would choose about a 32 lane house, though it would be very different. I would want it to focus around, one, the people, and this involve training the emplyees at the counter so they don't slack off (like in every center I have been to). Two, it would have to be very different, I would not want it to be your average rectangle shaped alley, something innovative and modern arcitecture wise. And three, have a great pro sho who would carry a nice balance of equipment, and not company biased either.

20 lane house with strip club/bar.

Proceeds from bar/strip club will help keep the lanes immaculate! ...
