question of ball company and reaction?
« on: October 16, 2008, 04:43:20 AM »
How do the different ball comp. match up as far as skid flip vs arc or long vs. hard roll?

For example I have heard the reaction pattern of Storm is a skid snap company

Most companies have their own reaction characteristics, for sure.  Track is definitely the skid/flip company.  Other than that, I think most of them have one main characteristic but throw in some other stuff that's different.  For example, Brunswick stuff tends to roll early but their Swarm and a couple others are exceptions.

I am with dbowler, and just want to add that a lot about a ball's reaction depends on personal perception and expectations. Many players see in the reaction shape what they want to see, and there are so many technical factors involved that you cannot generalize. RG numbers and surfaces of a ball give a basic indication of what to expect, but I'd never go THAT far to say "If you want an XX recation, buy brand YY". It is just like believing that Elite balls are something special and worth the huge price tags.
