Question on hitting your mark
« on: February 25, 2007, 04:27:26 AM »
I am having a problem with consistently hitting my mark when bowling.  I am not sure if I am losing my focus while on the lane or what.. but I just wanted some advice on how people seem to stay focused while bowling and how you keep hitting your mark without being distracted.

Thanks...

When you practice, just try rollin' the ball over a certain arrow, again and again. Don't look at the what the pins are doing or the score. Just concentrate on hitting that mark. I find that when I shoot 10 pins that when I stare the pin down, I usually will make it.

I know when ever I am consistently missing my mark it is because I'm rushing my feet.  I don't know why I do it, it just seems that when I'm bowling good I get overly excited and start rushing my delivery.

A great percentage of bowling is psychological. It depends a lot on the environment, who you bowl with and the not so funny comments from the league players. Some people bowl only to socialise once a week or something. They don't want to improve their game, they just want to have fun. If you're like me and want to improve,it's very frustrating. You have to concentrate a lot and ignore the ambient noise.
