Hey,

This is the first time I am posting here (i know this is irrelevent to my topic but i wanted to clarify in case i am doing something wrong).

My Questions:

Do you tend to bowl better when you are bowling with other GOOD bowlers?
Or is there a certain way or time that you tend to get better scores?

my situation:

Last week i went bowling with 4 of the best bowlers i know. I ended up shooting really good. I bowled about 12 games and all of them were over my average by nearly 30 pins or more. I bowled a 201, 176, 174, etc when my average is booked at (and i know this is really pathetic, but...) a 97.

Today i went bowling and i basically bowled by myself for the first 6 games and got REALLY CRAPPY scores and then picked up in the last 4 games when bowling with a friend.

so basically... when, how, where, what, who, do you bowl best (with)?

WELCOME! How you bowl is up to the individual. Some will CHOKE when bowling with a person that they concieve to be BETTER then them .. others will SHINE under those conditions. I, for one, am at my best when bowling against the BEST! I do my worse when bowling against a BLIND!

You did fine for your 1st posting! PHATDON is right on his advise .. a lot of good people .. hope you have fun here .. I DO!

Welcome to the forum. There is some good advice here if you can figure out how to decipher it

*saracsm*OMG you just contradicted everything here at ball reviews... as far as the more "experienced" bowlers are concerned your average is EVERYTHING!!! And if you average under 180-190 you need to practice your spares. *sarcasm*

I have to say that i wholehartedly agree with phatdon, its a game, it should be fun and enjoyed. I tend to bowl better with friends aswell, because there is alwalys a competition aspect there.

I agree with all the posts here. The only thing that's different about me is I like to bowl with less people cause I can get into a better rythem when we bowl faster cause when bowling with my better friends we just tend to strike a lot since its for money we all throw better. Not to say I don't bowl well with say a 4 on 4 game but I am just more comfortable moving faster. It also depends on how u r shooting. If ur not shooting well its not good to get back up to the line so fast its better to relax for a little bit. But if I'm in a good groove I want to move fast. But I digress.

in one handicap league i bowl, my fellow teammates all average 40 pins or so more than myself(209,197,210,221vs.159)...i when the season first started i pressured myself to think i HAD to keep up with them every game...well bowling this way mad every league night seem like a chore.....i just had to relize that theseguys have been bowling for decades and have bowled everywhere(pba, wpba tours,fiq)....now every night is fun..

btw yeah it does help to bowl with better bowlers and if they have a good side to them at all they will help you along with suggestions too(as in my case)
