Taking The Summer Off...Anyone Else?
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:49:45 PM »
This is the second summer in a row I have taken off. Has anyone else done this? Gas going up, I may be changing jobs, other expenses, trying to pay off my house, etc...

Summer is usually busy and I miss a week or two anyway.

Should be back in the fall...hopefully if I am not working nights. Right now I don't miss it. I'll probably be ready by August.

Thoughts about taking summer off?

I always do, need to re-charge and work on my golf game instead.

I averaged my highest season this past year and it couldn't be over soon enough. It is golf season, and I'm all about golf right now.

Got called this past Monday to sub on a summer league on a sport condition. Always wanted to bowl on a sport shot but during the summer is the only time we have them. With out bowling in over a month I shot 613 with two opens. I was sore as hell the next day. There was a slight glimmer of bowling back in my eye till I played golf Wednesday. Now bowling is back on the death bed while I try and get in some more time on the course.

Just got a new driver, three wood and five wood. Yes it is golf time.

Be good, or be good at it.

I don't leave the game completely, but I do scale it waaaaaaaaaayy back. I enjoy golf as much as I can during the summer.

I've bowled year round since I started and probably always will.  Some people need to get away, but not me.  I do bowl just once (sport league) because there are more summer time activities and vacations going on.

I find it a real chore to go to leagues in the summer. There's so much more to do when the weather's nice.

The only bowling I do in the summer is a sport singles league on Thursdays, and I get three free games a week of practice during the summer, so I'll usually stop by on Tuesdays and practice for about an hour.

Here, league has ended in March, but there are some tournaments going on in which I will take part in, and I will keep up training on a weekly basis. I recently found some excutional flaws (missing trailing leg), and I want to sort that out. But overall "bowling intensity" will be slightly reduced, though, but definitively no total summer break.

There is a scratch league I'd love to bowl in the summer but my back needs the rest. I haven't touched a bowling ball since April 18 but I'll start practicing again in late June.
