When selling a ball.... DON"T CALL IT "NIB" if it is NOT NEW IN THE BOX!!!! If you don't have the box, you can't say NIB!!!!! Just my two cents. It drives me crazy!

I'm guessing you bought a ball NIB that wasn't NIB? Did the ball at least come with a sheet listing the specs at least? That sucks...like those who sell balls that are 15 and are just heavy 14's or 16's that turn out to be heavier 15's.

I didn't get burned, but when I see an older ball come up that I would love to have and it says NIB in the title and then in the description says they don't have the box, THEN IT'S NOT NIB!!! Undrilled, but not NEW IN THE BOX!

After reading this, all I thought of was the scene in Tommy Boy about the guarantee on the box. I know its not New in the Box but close enough. That is just how my mind works.

Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?

Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of #####. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

Ted Nelson, Customer: [pause] Okay, I'll buy from you.

Tommy: Well, that's...

Very true. Hilarious movie. But the reason I want the box is so that I am more at ease with the purchase. I feel that there is less of a chance that I'm getting ripped off. Especially buying balls on the internet. I keep every ball I have that is undrilled in it's box. I guess people could put a different box from the same ball. I just don't like something called NIB when it's not. A duck is a duck and goose is not a duck.

NIB is important, I'm collecting the boxes....and I throw away the bowling balls.

I agree, NIB should mean the original box is included. On some of the boxes, there is information that you may want to know. Serial number to insure that it is the same ball or as a reference if the ball is lost or stolen and if the ball is a first or Blem. I have read where some sellers are selling seconds/blems as firsts so it should be easy to see on the box if that info was removed. Plus, if you have more than just a handful of bowling balls, it is a lot easier to find the ball if you are storing them in the original boxes.
