Title: Quitters are losers, but............
Post by: Centers on September 27, 2003, 02:43:47 PM
I have the chance to better myself with life in getting a new job with Raytheon.  I would have to quit my league on Monday night if it happends, and just hopping that my teamates would understand.  If you all know who Raytheon is, I bet you would understand, correct?

There shouldn't be anyone that would fault you for making a career change.  Just give your teammates advance warning.

Best of luck in your new endeavors.

No, I think you should finish the year, then see if the job is still available.  JK.  There are several factors which I think most people would agree are acceptable to quitting a league.  Employment moves/conflicts are one, personal problems at home or health reasons are another, and probably a couple other things as well.  The scorn comes when you quit due to conditions not being favorable to you, or when you complain that the only reason you're quitting is due to scoring issues / or not winning all the time.  In that sense, you are a quitter... improving your financial situation is not quitting, it's being smart.

Sometimes things like that need to be done.  I needed 1 class to finish a degree a few years ago.  It just so happened it was only offered during my Thursday night league time slot.  I went out and got another bowler for my team that everyone was happy with, then met the obligations I had to the rest of the league.

Thanks for the great feedback.  The only problem is that trying to find a bowler will be tricky.  We can go up to a 215, but I was the last person he (the captian) thought off because of my spare game (I'll admit that).  He has worked with me and I've gotten alot better that them.  Now, its not guarantee that I'll get the job, but I'll be pushing for it, and hope I do get it, since I did get laid off from Bombardier Aerospace, which makes private plane's such as Learjets and Globals.  I was making $15.00 there.

This is the same guy that I bowl Nationals with, so I hope he does understand, or Nationals may not be a good trip this upcomming year.  I guess they way to look at it is if he is a friend, he'll understand.
