Rack angled to the left!
« on: May 04, 2005, 01:54:33 AM »
Who benefits?

Lets say the racks in this house mostly lean to the left.

Lets say a line thru the 5 and 1 pin all point at the 15 board at the arrows for the lefty?

I'd say no one on either side had a good look at the pocket.

Wouldn't that increase the entry angle for RH's and decrease it for LH's?

Increasing entry angle for the righties would, imo, work against them.  Can you imagine leaving a stone 5 pin?  The way you now leave a stone 9 pin?  No thank you.  We all structure our games (I hope) based on the normal alignment of pins on the deck - change that and our game is useless.  It may be more obvious that this would screw up the left side, but it would create problems for both sides.

gnerally determined by wear the 5 pin is set in releation to teh head pin.

In the old'n days the 5 pin set to your hand side was considered good because of deflection. With tdays balls maybe a disadvange.

For sure nobody benefits from that crappy rack setup. I would ask for a new lane if I had that issue.

LL, allow me to rephrase.  If you're a limp-wristed fluffer who throws a purse at the pins then a left tilt would benefit you if you were a righty.  If, however, you were a manly man with any hand at all then both sides are equally screwed.
