I don't bench, really no need. I only do dumbbell work these days. I've been doing it for almost 15 yrs now. Bench is more of a powerlifting movement. It really doesn't do much of the physic. Dumbbells give you much better shape and since I'm into bodybuilding, that's a little more what I'm interested in. I'm 5'8", 180, 11%bf as of now, but I haven't started my diet yet. In a couple of months I'll have my bodyfat down to around 5%.

I can bench 350, however my true power is (was) my legs.

I tore some cartilage in my left knee in December, however I can leg press 400 lbs with my right leg.

6'3-----275 here.......
I used to squat 600 when I was in the Army and going to the gyms full time. My best bench ever was 225 seven reps before muscle failure, and that was after working out the rest of the chest routine I had at the time.
I work out here now with 20 and 30lb dumbbells only and run a mile every other day. My chest routine is 3 sets of 50 reps with the 30's and then 3 sets of 50 reps with my arms straight out while lying on the floor. I take the weight back until it hits the floor, then return to a straight overhead position.
I also do 75 crunches every morning with a 5 or 10 lb plate on my chest.

I used to leg press up into the 700s, but don't have any equipment for that now.  I'm not hitting the legs much at all as I've got 2 bad menisci and a necrotic bone in my right ankle.  Hard to believe what used to be so strong is so weak now....I'll be attempting 210 in the bench tomorrow night -- how the wife and kids are quick with the phone when I'm stuck on the bench!!

This is great reading. Me I pick up 3-5lb babies 100/times a day. (diaper pooh not included) Go to work and push pen and press buttons. All kidding aside, do any of you bigger boys find you have a muscled swing. When i was lifting regularly I needed to be careful with certain movements as it would effect my swing.

Not that I'm one of the bigger boys, but I'm not at that stage yet.  The added strength has let me stay behind the ball a little longer and my wrist isn't collapsing from the weight of the ball anymore.  I'm really trying to go "free arm swing", so I pray the workouts don't screw that up!!

Lefty, that's a good question.  When I began bowling yrs ago, thinking about a free armswing never entered my mind.  Not saying I carelessly threw the ball because I had the strength, but never relaxed to the point it was 'free'.  Now that I've returned (8 yrs removed), I'm trying to relax which is very difficult when you're use to 'man-handling' the equipment.  Funny thing about it, I've a newborn and hold her like I'm holding a football... LOL

So for me, I find it difficult but with practice and PATIENCE I'll hopefully learn.

When i weighed 165 i could bench 350 or more on good days, my warmup sets i used 215 the good old days. I had a 52 inch chest and 29 waist now i have 54 chest and a 44 waist and weigh 245 on 5' 10" so those big macs are getting heavier everyday to lift

I did actually get off my fat butt 4 years ago and got back to 315 and sets of 215 again but got lazy again. I just cant motivate myself to the lifestyle anymore after being a 5 day a week workout nut, hopefully i can start getting into better shape playing with my year and half old son.
