Third game problems
« on: December 09, 2008, 01:07:38 PM »
I have been having third game problems all year. I think I might have found a solution tonight and it doesn't seem conventional. I have been shelling down to a weaker cover 3rd game all year and I have been only averaging 191. 1st game I am averaging 223 and second game 211. Tonight I decided later in the game after struggling to find a look to go to my strongest ball (NVD) and move deep and turn it.I found a nice look where I could hook it in the middle and burn off some energy outside and keep it in the pocket. Maybe shelling down was the wrong philosophy all year.

On a house shot, chances are, there are several ways to get to the pocket, even in the third game.  What you are looking for is the one that gets there the most consistant, with the largest margin of error, and with the best carry percentage.  A normal house shot will allow sevearal types of players several ways to the pocket.  If in your league, or at least against the team you bowled that night, chances are where you moved "deep" was still virtually fresh.  If the league is comprised of straighter players, going with a weaker ball in their track may still be a bit iffy, and have continous transition.  I always like to play where no one else is on the pair, so I can stay in one place longer.
