How can I find out if the number of League bowlers went down last season?

I suppose the USBC could tell you if membership is down. 99% of league bowlers would belong to USBC...

I don''''t believe I can say it any more clearly. Either contact USBC directly or try to navigate around their screwy website for the information you need.

Has there been a year since about 1980 when the number of league bowlers hasn't gone down? I don't think so.

as a side note, i took my nephew bowling a couple weeks ago.  the manager of the bowling alley asked if my nephew was in a league, which he is.  he replied, "well, all our junior leagues are free this year."

What a GREAT idea!

Probably not. All of Us have to rally and get people involved. Just in 1 League. Get them a Ball, Bag, and Shoes of their own. Not a big time ball. Just a ball. Give the Business either to an Online or offline shop. GET PEOPLE INVOLVED

Since I spent five minutes looking up this in another thread I thought why waste the effort?  07-08 data is missing but this should be enough to give one an idea what's going on.

In 2008-09, there were 2,325,074 USBC members. The number of Sport members for 2008-09 were 28,915.

http://forums.bowl.com/index.php?/topic/127-certified-bowlers/

USBC Membership for 2006/2007 season as of May 2007:
• Number of USBC certified leagues bowlers: 2,521,617
• Number of USBC certified leagues: 71,196
• Number of USBC Sport Bowling members: 12,543

Pretty amazing. But if We can get more people to join in the next years whether through Schools or just adults. USBC has got to give an incentive for people to join. 2.3 Million is still a lot of Bowlers. I am not sure Sport Leagues will ever get going the way they should. I know a lot of people want to bolw on harder conditions. But honestly I think We would lose more bowlers if We went to all Sport Leagues. They are good summer leagues.

USBC has got to provide incentives for people to join. I doubt that few people that aren't bowling now have ever heard of USBC, or even if they have, they don't care about it. And if they've heard about it, they probably aren't interested in joining.
