Rare shot misses
« on: December 30, 2003, 07:49:11 AM »
Anyone ever miss a shot that 99 out of 100 times you'll pick up if thrown correctly? One of the guys we were bowling against this evening left a 3-10 (he's a righty) and managed to put the ball right through the 3-10 without hitting either pin?

My guess is the odds are very rare of this occurring....has this ever happened to anyone on 4-5 or 5-6 leaves? How did you feel after this happened...

This guy shrugged it off, then got a little peeved when I picked up 2 2-7 leaves as well as a 2-7-8 during the course of the night (I'm a wrongsider...).

Matt

If you can master this shot, you can win the only award that's never been awarded ever.

A 292

Leaving the 1-3-4-6-7 (lefty version) and going right back through is my goal. If I ever leave it, wether it is in league or practice (not tournaments though....well ok most of the time there too) I go for the "all or none" theory. Move in a little and try to hit the same spot. I usually get either the 4-7 or the 1-3-6, sometimes pick it up if I get a good bounce and once in a blue moon pick it  up. Messing around in practice one night with a buddy I left one he bet me $10 I couldnt do it again, so I went right back through it, then in the next frame, left it again, went double or nothing and........(drama buildup).......made the spare, so I broke even. My favorite miss though (besides whiffing corner pins) is when i leave a stone 9, throw the same ball on the spare, ball rolls out and I miss the 9 pin. Two good "pocket" shots off my my hand and I get a 9- for my efforts. Gott love it.

I remember fitting the ball between the 3 - 6 at least once, without touching either one.

Peri, you sure about this, or were they REALLY offset?  Either that, or you need to take it a little easier when sanding your equipment LOL.  Peri - the only guy who has a tennis ball made by Brunswick LOL.

JustABowler - You wouldn't have that problem if you were throwing a conventional drill Black Beauty! LOL.  Two back to back picks like that, WOW, I bet they do still talk about that - especially when the game is close!

Ive put the ball through the 3/10 plenty of times, and recently i even managed to take only the 6, from a 3-6-10 leave. Funniest shot ive seen, was a 7-10 spare, from a 6-7-10 leave, now that has to be anoying
