wow I didnt think i would get responses like this, i apologize for posting something like this. All I wanted was to get some ball recommendations. Maybe I wasnt real clear on that, and that is my fault. My friend just wanted to get some recommendations on a heavy oil ball. I do appreciate all your imput. thanks!

LevRG from my experience is not a good heavy oil ball, it sets up nice, but it still goes pretty long. I think I'd suggest an Anger (i had mine at 1000 when I had it), a Cell, a Dimension, or a Fury. Many people didnt like the Fury, but if you drill it right and actually match it up on conditions that are favorable for the ball (lots and lots of oil) it is a good ball with a nice even arcing motion.

On Fire, the EPX is a great ball but don't you think the amount of mainanence you have to give it is a little bit of a downfall?

Funny how Ebonites drilling instructions for the NV series only has 3 layouts and 2 of them are CG out. #1 is with the pin over the fingers w/the CG out and #2 is with the pin under the ring w/the CG out. The 3rd is just a stupid stacked leverage.

Drilling #1
If you do not have a positive axis, use this layout.
Ball Reaction: Long and Strong
Suitable for: Most Styles and Lines
Flare potential: Medium
Center of Gravity: The center of gravity placement may or may not fall inside the CG Area. If it doesn’t then the balance hole location may need to be adjusted.
Mass Bias Placement: Place Mass Bias 3 inches to the right of the thumb hole
If needed place balance hole 4 inches over and 1/2 inch up and drill back to statically legal.  

Drilling #2
Ball Reaction: Long and Strong
Suitable for: Most Styles and Lines
Flare potential: Large
Pin Placement: Place Pin 4 1/2 inches from PAP
Center of Gravity: The center of gravity placement may or may not fall inside the CG Area. If it doesn’t then the balance hole location may need to be adjusted.
Mass Bias Placement: Place Mass Bias at a 45 degree angle to the right of the thumb hole. If needed place balance hole over on the Vertical Axis Line and 2 inches down and drill back to negative side weight. The bigger and deeper the hole is the more increased ball reaction. Remember to keep the ball statically legal.

This is a bunch of crap. If needed, place a balance hole xyz and drill it back to NEGATIVE side. How do you know if it's needed..? OMG

And you want to crap on Lane 1 people suggesting pin under CG out layouts..? WOW..!! =:^D

bigmark,  Layout #1 is for "most styles". If you don't have a PAP measurement it says...

Bowlers with different PAP's are being suggested to place the MB 3" to the right of the thumb hole. Isn't that the same thing as what's being suggested by users on here who suggest placing the pin under the ring and kicking the CG out for any bowler without knowing their PAP..?

I think it is. So, maybe you should stop bashing users on here and start bashing Ebonite..!! =:^D
