Re-racking at nationals?
« on: March 12, 2011, 08:56:24 AM »
I strangely havent had this issue before, but does anybody know if there are any reracking rules or restrictions at nationals? I've been paying a lot closer attention to my racks this year, partly just because im trying to be a smarter bowler, but mostly because the racks at my home house are ridiculously terrible, we are talking multiple pins in a single rack off, some in the range of 2 to 3 inches in any direction. There is a professional bowler that used to live here that stopped by between the world championship and us open and mentioned something about reno having the same pinsetters and not being happy about his pin spots that week. Now i dont remember having any problems last year, but i cant say i was paying much attention to the spots, i dont remember having one bad enough to stand out. Again, im not anticipating an issue, but just in case . .

That's just like, your opinion, man.

I believe you have to ask the lane monitor for a re-rack.

They generally allow them but if one person ask too many times during a set, unless they see something pretty obvious the will deny some of them.

It used to be that you had to ask for one and if multiple, you had to basically explain why you wanted one, as to tell them what pin(s) were off.....and yes those pinsetters can be shaky to say the least.

The NBS at Reno now have the GSX pinsetters that I believe were from the last Las Vegas USBC Nationals stop so they are pretty new. Of course that's a lot of games on them and the GS machines can be spotty with pin spots. But the few times I have bowled at Reno with the older machines and the newer ones I think I have only re-racked once and the racks seem good to my eyes.

And yes, I just asked the lane monitor for a rerack and they did it from their screen. Have not asked for multiples though.

Why not?  The PBA has a limit on re-racks, so do a lot of tournaments.  The tournament runs on a pretty tight schedule, they can't let people have 20 re-racks per set
