No oil on the first 9 inches of the lane

I bowl at an AMF house who has stopped oiling and cleaning the first nine or so inches of the lane. I'm told the reason is comply with a recent OSHA directive about having oil too close to the foul line, preventing falls. (Yeah, they're not very creative ...)
 
Any other centers doing the same thing?  Since they don't ever clean that area, it's full of (grease?) black marks where the ball initially contacts the lane. Regardless, it looks horrendous!

Is anyone really concerned about not having oil on the first 6" of the lane?  The only thing I can see is a possible eye sight distraction from the sticker AMF houses are applying. 

Let me know how many revs you lose and how much your speed decreases from this monumental reduction in oil on the lane.

The AMF center I bowl at is oiling 18 inches away from the foul line.  They lane machine also oiled 18 inches further down lane.  Our back end reaction was certainly different tonight .  Since this is an AMF center,we all just assumed that since the recreational bowler is King, it was done for their benefit.

 It is an AMF company policy to do that now.

For one thing, this is a clear sign that AMF centers are rather fun-oriented than a place for sport bowling. I'd assume that the foul lines are not working, too.

 

On the other side: adjust - be it with equipment or release techniques, or drop the AMF center altogether. Do not put the blame on the company, do something by yourself. Wailing won't help, nobody listens.

So, having bowled on the AMF longer pattern for a few weeks now (machine starts to oil 18 inches away from the foul line and the end of the pattern is also 18 inches longer.  Have made two observations.   I can use stronger stuff and still average about the same or a little higher.  The baggers in the league are using the same equipment and averaging lower.  I am guessing that all are happy .
