Tennis Elbow
« on: October 23, 2008, 12:04:56 AM »
How many of you have developed tennis elbow "pain on the outer side of the elbow palm up" due to bowling? The only remedy I know is to put ice on it 4 times a day, take ibuprofen or Aleve and stop bowling. The stop bowling part is what I am having problems with. Any other suggestions? Serious replys only.

Thanks

I had this, lateral epicondolytis, when I was 15 from bending my elbow in my backswing. I took one week off, iced it, had an elbow brace and changed my back swing.  I most likely, in hindsite, bent my elbow and twisted to force the tension.    I am 30 now and have never had a problem since I straightened my arm in my back swing and it helped my scores.  I stopped muscling the ball.

i got it
2 reasons why imo were
A) i was playing tennis @ the time
B) i had my span MAXED WAY out

i had to pull my span in almost 1/2 an inch and plug and re-drill all my equiptment

i quit playing tennis and after time i got used to my new span and the pain went away, but i feel like the majority of the pain was from having my span streched out so far

I have a pain every once in a while on the inside of my elbow when tryin to turn it palm up. it was a point where I couldn't even turn it palm up after bowling for a week or so without pain or discomfort. I took basically 5 years off of bowling and am working to get my game back where it was and should be..

I wore a forearm brace.  My team mates told me I was trying to come around the ball w/a bent elbow.  Since I stopped doing that I do not need the forearm brace anymore.  I do where a wrist support because of arthritis & carpel tunnel, but it's a glove w/wrist support.  The Storm Glove Plus.

I had a wicked case of tennis elbow, but got it from working in the yard.  Hurt like heck and the pain affected my bowling.

My doctor had me strengthen the area using light weights.  He said that rest, ice, and anti-inflammatories will help, but the lack of activity will allow your muscles to atrophy and then the condition will likely return if you don't keep the muscles around the tendon in good shape.

Just wear a foreman strap 2 inches in front of your elbow joint, they are 6.99 at CVS or Walgreens. I have hooked two people up in league that had the same problem, both report no more pain.

Usually it is from picking up the bent elbow in your down swing, I myself use the bent elbow by bad habit tried to break it many times cant.

So i guess that I am very bad Don Carter wannabe lol

Took me a year to get rid of my elbow tendonitis...it still hurts from time to time when I bowl.  Best way to get rid of it is to not bowl at all and let your elbow rest/recover...
