I've heard talk for a long while how the Angle Evolution Tour is a great ball for Heavy Oil, but I don't understand how? It's not a particle so how can it be used when there's a ton of oil or carrydown? Will it really handle a ton of oil? What about this ball ball makes it work? Does it have a ton of backend?

Ric, if we're speaking of the same AMF Angle Evolution Tour then it's a particle/reactive resin ball. The SPT V is the strongest coverstock AMF has ever produce (at that time) and with 800 wet sanded finish, this baby will hook. Unless you're speaking of Angle Evolution Reactive which is compliment the Angle Evolution Tour. It'll go long and hit hard (according to my friend who ever used it)

Ric: There's several different ways to attack oily lanes. You just have to remember that nothing hooks much on oil. I have had good success with a polished resin inside on heavy long oil. Since nothing is going to hook much anyhow, I've had good luck squaring up and playing around 13-15. The ball isn't using energy early on the lanes and you can use what little friction area that is available to get good entry angle and carry. You just can't cover a lot of boards.

Where I find most people have problems is they expect to be able to swing an oil ball out to 15 to 5 and expect it to make it back just because the ball is touted as an oiler.

The Tour is a heavy load particle. What makes this ball different than most high load particles is its hook shape. Head oil is a must or the ball will burn up like any dull ball. However, if you have head oil the ball will snap once it hits the drier boards. Not really an arc at all. All the other high loads have hooked at my feet. The Tour gives me a reactive look on a heavier longer pattern. Carry is also very good on its condition. Granted nothing will hook much on a long heavy pattern with sloppy backends, but the tour will give you a little punch at the pindeck and some carry. I like mine so much that I carry 2 into every house with me. One box and one polished to glass. I also have 2 NIB just in case. I think the tour is a great ball for someone that throws a little to hard for their rev rate. A great unique ball.

The "Tour" is an AMF ball made by Columbia. It shares the same cover is the "Chaos"... I think that you are confusing this ball with one of the others in the Evolution line. Hope this helps.

1. Original "Top Secret" then Angle Evolution was medium load particle pearl.
2. Angle Evolution Reactive = just that
3. Angle Evolution Tour heavy load particle "Del Warren said you will never find enough oil for this ball"
4. Angle Evolution Extra = medium load particle and strong mass bias for carrydown! This ball covers boards fast!!!!

Well, what about the V2?

Ebonite's says something like, "If you bowl at centers that believe in oiling all the way to the pindeck, then you need the V2". Or something like that.

Will the V2 really work on Long Flooded Heavy Oil???

Is the V2 really that much ball? Or do you have to play really tight and throw straight to the pocket?

It's depend which of the V2 you're refering to. The good old V2 sanded, V2 particle and the formidable V2 strong are all great ball. Let just say that I've saw some of player who could swing it really wide (from 35-38 to 5 board) to getting in to the pocket. Check their web site, each of the ball detail has description of how to use each ball to maximize their potential.

Slightly stronger than the V2 for me in the reactive class was a Rev leverage drilled Pantera!

What a league style (some dry outside 10) heavy oil ball! Long and thick stuff this thing could bring it and swing it! What carry. The ladies on tour seemed to think so too!

Well the Hyde is a reactive resin, it works great on heavy oil, with the proper drilling of course.
