There are several topics right now regarding how well equipment works when it's new, compared to "old" - 30 games or so.
If I only get 30 games out of a ball, I've been ripped off. That's $5 per game average. Bull.

But - I have had several pieces of equipment that I didn't like very much at first, but after throwing them for a while, they got better. My Voodoo was like that. The ball is not yet one of my favorites, but it's far better with 30 games on it than it was out of the box.

Maybe it's confidence in the reaction - maybe it's learning what the ball REALLY does compared to what it's supposed to do - I don't know. Any one else have this experience?

Actually, I just got over this "phase" with one of my balls a few games ago.  I have a Littleboy that at first was simply unique to say the least.  For the first few games I used it, I tried to make it work the way I wanted it to.  I even thought that I had no place for the ball in my line up because it was too specific.  

I finally got a better understanding how it wanted to be thrown, and with a little help from coverstock adjustments, this ball is my savior.  Whenever I don't carry, or need a huge backend movement, I pull this baby out.  I put it on my mark, and let the ball do it's job.

Well, 30 games seems to be the number that people are referring to in the "newness" type posts. They claim that's when the newness wears off, and the ball stops working. That's why I referred to it in my topic.

Wouldn't it be sweet if ALL ball manufacturers did a demo day like Ebonite does?

I think we should ALL start pounding the manufacturers to do just that. I know that every time there's a demo day, Ebonite sales around here go sky high.

However - the 30 game mark - I had a guy ask if his friend could buy my Voodoo. He asked what condition it's in. I told him it had around 30 games on it, if that. I'm religious about cleaning and maintaining my equipment, and told him that. His buddy replied that he didn't want a ball "that old" - he was looking for a used one with less games than that. I was floored. 30 games to me is less than I bowl in a normal week - not much.
