Really Strange.!!!
« on: June 29, 2003, 08:53:42 AM »
I started bowling a league at a different house and it's interesting.  The shot is never the same twice not even close.  Tonite I start with 204 and things are good.  The oil started to carry down and then...   My ball came back covered in a really light oil.  The whole ball not just the track or parts of the ball but the entire thing was covered in this light oil.  The ball was slicker than a blue dot.  I took a towel to it and it didn't help.  I've never seen an oil like this stuff.

Are you sure that the mechanic or pinjumper was not mad at you?

I don't think it was just me because several people in our league had the problem.  It may be the league.  It's a league for an AOL chat room.  A friend of mine has been on AOL for years.  He is their 4999 user!.  I thought that may be it.  I really only know 2 people in the house because they are customers.  I have never seen an oil like this either.  The oil has a very very fine consistency and is almost slimy.  I cleaned my equipment before going to the other house so the ball was clean and this stuff stuck to it, hitting it with a towel had no effect.

The center I bowl at almost always produces the same thing.  I have never quite figured out why.  But even when I throw an old urathane nitro, I have the same problem.  you can see the oil where the track is, but there also tends to be a light film of oil on the rest of the ball.

Make sure you have a microfiber towel or 2 to keep the ball dry.  They seem to remove this file fairly well for me.  Though it doesn't stop the oil getting in my thumb holes, thus producing several poor releases a night.  If anyone knows the cause of this, I too wouldn't mind hearing it

Thanks for the tip.  I'll try the towel.  I have a great big golfing towel and it's  been good but just couldn't do this job.  I've never seen a ball come back with this slick film on it all over.  What ever it is it's nasty.
